Iraq-UK, Politics, 2/21/2006

In the course of recent developments which unveiled the involvement of a British side in beating Iraqi youngsters in Basra city, and the related internal and external reactions to this, the British Foreign office secretary Jack Straw arrived in Baghdad in order to hold talks with senior Iraqi officials.

In another development which reveals the nature of tension in the American relations with the Iraqi sides, the governor of the Shiite city Karbala, Aqil al-Khazaali, announced the suspension of official meetings with the American side in the governorate in protest to the fact that the American delegation does not respect members of the Iraqi security forces there.
