Sharaa meet al-Qaddoumi

Syria's Vice-President Farouq al-Sharaa discussed on Monday with chief of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Political Department, Farouq al-Qaddoumi, latest developments in the region, particularly on the Palestinian arena.
Both sides reviewed the recent Palestinian parliamentary elections, underscoring importance of enhancing the Palestinian national unity on the basis of principles that guarantee the restoration of the Palestinian legitimate rights, including the "right of return" home and the establishment of the independent state with Jerusalem as capital.
The meeting was attended by Head of the PLO Bureau in Damascus Mahmoud al-Khalidi.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Walid al-Muaallim discussed with Qaddoumi the situation on the Palestinian scene and the necessity of continuing the exerted efforts to enhance the Palestinian national unity and commitment to the option of the Palestinian people for the restoration of the rights and the establishment of the independent state with Jerusalem as capital.
The meeting was attended by Bushra Kanafani, Head of the Foreign Media Department at the Foreign Ministry.
Later, Qaddoumi told reporters that his talks with the Foreign Minister centered on the latest developments in the region, particularly the outcomes of the recent Palestinian legislative elections.
He added that the experience of these elections was good, pointing out that the Palestinian people and the changes emerged victorious in these elections.
He said that the PLO and Hamas movement go side by side on the same path, stressing that the next experience should make success. We will cooperate with Hamas movement and the other Palestinian factions for the service of the Palestinian people and their legitimate issues, he added.
Qaddoumi expressed high appreciation to Syria's national and pan-Arab stances and its persistent support to the Palestinian people.
