Tishreen: Syria is targeted for deliberate purposes
Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 2/16/2006
The Syrian Tishreen daily said that Syria has been exposed for propaganda of accusations and insults for a year in the framework of the campaign of threats and pressures which the American administration launched against Syria.
In its editorial published Wednesday, Tishreen added that Syria and her media preferred to commit themselves to self-control for the sake of Lebanon and for maintaining its unity and sovereignty.
Tishreen added that the national media replied in from time to time to those who bind themselves by Israel and the American so-called the Greater Middle East Project.
Tishreen expressed sorrow over the descending level of media discourse adopted by some parties, describing it as a violation of all political and diplomatic protocols, and stressed that the "hatred team shot the Arabism and the Arab initiative in the service of American-Israeli schemes."
It expressed Syria's support to the Lebanese leadership and people, asserting that Syria is proud of the Lebanese people, their national resistance and great sacrifices.
Meanwhile, the Political editor of the daily said "the whole world witnessed yesterday a festival of hatred on the first anniversary of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri in which the speakers have swore abuses and insults against Syria."
In an article titled Hatred Festival on Valentine, the editor added that those who took part in the festival are well-known for their commitment to Israel and its projects against Syria and the Arab states. The article pointed out that those who are trading in the blood of Hariri and assassinating him once again. They are trying to assassinate Lebanon's security, stability and national resistance, as well as the historical and deep-rooted relations with Syria, the editor said.
The editor concluded by asserting Syria's steadfastness in the face of the betrayal stabs, conspiracies and suspicious projects.
