Lesch lectures in Aleppo on US - Syria relations
Syria-USA, Politics, 2/16/2006
Renowned American professor David Lesch has depicted President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday as a national leader of strategic vision and clear ideas formulated in calmness and force, and based on his peoples interests and the political principals he believes in.
In an open seminar with students and professors at the Aleppo University in the north, Professor Lesch called for the constructive dialogue between Syria and the United States due to Syria's vital and important role in the region and the world.
Leich criticized the US policy in the Middle East saying it was a wrong policy mainly in the war on Iraq, asserting his rejection of this war and its feigned justifications.
He pointed out at the US policy effect on the Mideast issues underlining importance that these policies must be more far-sighted than they are.
Lesch issued last year a book titled: The New Lion of Damascus: Bashar al-Asad and Modern Syria, which presents for the American readers delicate images of the human aspects of President Assad personality, his positions and ideas he believes in.
