Syria marks the 24th anniversary of general strike on Golan

Secretary of the Baath party in Qunietra, southwest Damascus, Ibrahim al-Ali, saluted on Tuesday "steadfastness of Syrian folks in occupied Golan and their adherence to Arab identifies and land."

He asserted that "threats and pressures Syria is exposed would only make her more insistent to carry on steadfastness in face of schemes contrived against our Arab nation to get at dignity and sovereignty."

Syrian citizens of the Golan living in Syria renewed for their part, adherence to their Arab identity as well pride of national belonging in addition to the continuity of struggle to "liberate their land and fulfill return to motherland." In a mass rally on the hill opposing the occupied part of Golan, Syrian citizens of Golan emphasized their standing behind the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and rejection of threats and pressures Syria is currently exposed to as to avert her from national and pan-Arab positions on fair issues.

The speech on behalf of Syrian citizens of Golan refused and denounced what some western media published of cartoons depicting prophet Muhammed under the "pretext of the freedom of expression ignoring at the same time the brutal practices against our people sons in the occupied Arab territories."

Syria has observed today the 24th anniversary of the open strike announced by the occupied Golan citizens in 1982 as to reject the Israeli entity bids to annex the Golan and impose the Israeli identity on its sons.

Crowds of sons of villages in Golan and Palestinian personalities from the West Bank and Arabs of 1948 attended the mass rally.

Words delivered were for the Arab captives and detainees in Israeli jails, former Lebanese Minister Weiaam Wahab and Secretary General of the Arab Socialists Movement Ahmed al-Ahmed.

Syrian citizens on the other side of the hill participated in the mass rally by raising the Syrian flags and photos of President Bashar al-Assad as well as chanting slogans that assert the Syrian identity and steadfastness in face of the "Zionist entity".
