Sudan rules out conspiracy for Garang death
Sudan-Uganda, Politics, 2/14/2006

Sudan's foreign minister Laam AKool announced that the investigation committee into the murder of the former Sudanese vice president John Garang ruled out a conspiracy behind his death in July 2005.

AKool added in a press conference in Doha, Qatar, that announcing results of the investigations will be by the end of February, stressing that these investigations are still held secretly.

He added that the peace agreement finalized between Khartoum and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) imposed challenges for rebuilding the country after a war which had lasted for more than two decades.

The Sudanese official also indicated that obligations of the financial donors at Oslo conference to support his country estimated by $ 4.5 billion, represent one third of Sudan's need. He explained that great part of it will be repaid. He simultaneously expressed regret over linking these aids to improvement in the situation in Darfur region.
