Syria gets ready to build a stock market

Syria's Prime Minister Naji Otrri on Sunday met Head of the Syrian Council of Stock Market Commissioners, Mohammad Imadi, and some parliament members.
The role of stock market in the organization and optimal use of individual savings in national development projects, and the task of Commissioners in preparations for the stock market were discussed in the meeting.
The prime minister stressed need to support the work of the Council and providing it with human and financial resources to perform its responsibility in most favorable way.
The meeting was attended by Council of Ministers Secretary General, Mohammad Maher al-Mujtahed.
"The Syrian Stock Market will be of a great importance in encouraging investment and creating more work jobs. It will also be transparent and a practical framework to mobilize and employ Syrians' savings in investment activities and development projects. This is in addition to encouraging Arab and foreign investors to bring their investments to Syria," Finance Minister said Sunday.
The council, created this year, was announced to have seven members:Mohammad al-Imadi, a consultative expert and chairman of the council
Muhammad Jlilati from Damascus University as a deputy chairman and both of them are full-timers.
Mohamad Hamandoush, the Deputy Finance Minister, Ghassan Habash, the Deputy Economic and Trade Minister,. Hisham Mitwali the Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Syria and. Hisham Mutewalli as the council members.
Elias Haddad and Mohammad Yussr Barnieh as consultative experts and full-timer members in the council.
The finance minister said the council is shouldering big responsibilities. It has to put rules of procedure of the commission, put law for setting up the market, appoint cadres and rehabilitate them through making a comprehensive review of laws and legislation pertaining to financial issues and companies in preparation for founding the market.
