News of the world: British soldiers brutally attacking Iraqis civilians
Iraq-UK, Military, 2/13/2006
The British daily News Of The World broadcast a one minute video tape showing British soldiers beating 43 unarmed young Iraqis. The paper described those UK soldiers as "a brutal gang"
The paper added that the tape which was broadcast by British TV included pictures for soldiers chasing young demonstrators in the streets dragging them to a camp where they were boxed in and beaten by sticks, adding that the tape also includes pictures for one soldier beating the face of a dead Iraqi.
The pictures were taken by a soldier in the army in 2004 who is hear encouraging his staff to attack those young Iraqis. The paper stressed that the person who videotaped the incident heard his voice saying to the young Iraqis "you deserve this," describing them as "dirty."
The paper did not disclose the place where these attacks took place or the contingent which carried it out, but it said that the tape was shown to the forces in bases in Britain before one person handed it over to the paper.
For its part, a spokesman for the British defense office said that the ministry knows about "these very serious attacks," claiming that "the persons who committed these violations are few among scores of thousands of British soldiers who served in Iraq since the invasion of this country in March 2003.
It is mostly expected that disclosing these attacks which provoke the controversy over the behavior of the American British and coalition forces in Iraq especially after the earlier disclosed torture scandals in Abu Ghreib prison.
