Iraqi detainee killed, London investigates violations by its soldiers
Iraq-UK, Military, 2/13/2006
The American army in Iraq announced the death of one detainees in Abu Ghreib jail, alleging that his death resulted from being beaten by a group of other detainees.
This, however, coincided with a new beating scandal disclosed on Sunday reflected in a brutal attack by British soldiers against young Iraqis.
In a statement, the British army said that the prisoner was 53 year old and that he was detained for security reasons, noting that after the aggression against him he was admitted to hospital where he died and that an investigation was opened to know the implications of the incident.
This coincided with the announcement made by the British defense office that it ordered an urgent investigation over the appearance of British military men in a video tape attacking and beating several unarmed young Iraqis.
