One million Iraqi Shiite celebrate Ashoura anniversary

More than one million Shiite in Karbala celebrated the death anniversary of Imam al-Hussein Bin Ali amid tight security conditions.
Officials in the city said that about two million visitors are now in Karbala and in order to prevent attacks of gunmen which targeted crowds in Ashoura in earlier years, the Iraqi security forces cordoned the city and prevented the entry of cars, and installed self inspection points for visitors arriving from other cities where many of them came on foot.
