Kuwait-Regional, Politics, 2/9/2006
Kuwaiti People's Assembly on Wednesday condemned publishing caricatures that insult Prophet Muhammad in a Danish newspaper and some European dailies.
"These irresponsible acts give nothing but hatred ... they outraged Muslims all over the world at a time the world needs for civilizations' dialogue and integration," the Assembly said in a statement.
It called on officials in the world, particularly governments of Denmark and Norway to issue laws that protect religions and prophets, so the world can live in a state of reciprocal respect.
In Beirut, the Arab League for Islamic-Christian dialogue also denounced the cartoons reprinted by some western newspapers which offend Islam.
The League, in a statement appealed to mass media across the world, particularly in Europe to respect Muslims and other religions' feelings and beliefs.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Shiite Council in Lebanon Sheikh Abdulamir Kabalan said that the "Zionist Lobby is responsible for the insulting campaign against Islam." Sheikh Kabalan, during a religious ceremony added that Islam calls for tolerance, mercy and coexistence.
