Tishrin: Turkish visitors to Syria on the rise

The number of Turkish tourists who visited Syria last year increased to 688,978 people from 654,152 compared to 2004, Tishrin daily said Tuesday.
The daily added that, in return, the number of Syrian tourists who visited Turkey reached 288,000 during 2005.
Cultural and Media Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Damascus, Ahmad Arsalan, pointed out that more than 30 Syrian tourist companies are working in Turkey.
Arsalan expected that the number of the Syrian tourists to Turkey will increase by 70% during 2006 due to the marketing campaigns which the Turkish Ministry of Tourism will launch in the Syrian media.
He indicated that Turkey is has great potentials of successful tourism that made her an important tourist destination for all tourists.
