Al-Assad receives Muqtada Al-Sadr

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad received at al-Rawda Palace on Monday the Iraqi religious and political leader Muqtada al-Sadr and an accompanying delegation.
Both sides reviewed the situations in the Iraqi arena, results of the latest Iraqi elections as well as the ongoing consultations for forming the Iraqi government.
President al-Assad called for unifying Iraqi national ranks in serving safety of Iraq and liberating it from the occupation.
Al-Sadr expressed appreciation to Syria's stances in supporting the Iraqi people and her care on its safety.
He expressed solidarity with Syria and his care to continue consultations regarding the joint interest of the two states.
