Early elections in Algeria likely due to Butaflika's health
Algeria, Politics, 2/2/2006

A high ranking Algerian source said that his country is on its way "to organize early Presidential elections," because of what he called the deteriorated health conditions of President Abdul Aziz Butaflika.

The source which asked to be anonymous said that Butaflika according to "Algerian and French specialized medical report is in a very critical health condition," and that he had undergone regular treatment trips abroad before he was admitted to the French Military De Grace hospital on November 26th, 2005 to exterminate a lump in his stomach described by his Algerian doctor as "nonmalignant".

Butaflika according to the source spent two weeks in the hospital and other two weeks as a healing period in Paris, and was careful when he returned back to Algeria to walk on his feet to greet the masses which crowded to receive him in a message of assurances confirming that he enjoys good health and as a refute to news which rumored on his deteriorated health conditions.
