Syria Arab proposal for assistance to the Palestinians
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 2/1/2006
Syria's Foreign Minister Farouq al-Sharaa said Syria will submit a proposal to the next Arab summit calling for continuing to offer aid to the Palestinian people as was decided by previous Arab summits.
Sharaa added in a statement on Tuesday that Syria's suggestion also calls on the Arab summit to compensate for the assistance which will be stopped by the United States or any other country to the Palestinian people.
The forthcoming Arab summit meeting is set for late March in Sudan.
The Syrian step is part of the country's continuous support to the Palestinian people and respect of their choice and decisions in running their own affairs and their right to self-determination.
