Rafsanjani: Global arrogance wants to block Iran's progress
Iran, Politics, 1/28/2006

Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani yesterday said global arrogant powers are interested only in pursuing their own interests and do not wish to see Iran progress.

IRNA report that at a meeting with Experts Assembly Chairman Ayatollah Ali Meshkini, Rafsanjani spoke briefly of the direction of the country's nuclear activities. The Iranian nation believes that Tehran should not abandon its legal right to pursue nuclear technology, he said, adding that even its opponents concede that Iran has a right to insist on the development and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran should stay calm amid this hue and cry so that it can achieve all its goals in the field of nuclear energy.

For his part, Ayatollah Meshkini said that global arrogance is trying to block Iran from exercising a legitimate right.
