Syria to build power planet in cooperation with British company
Syria-UK, Economics, 1/25/2006

A memo of understanding and partnership has been signed on Tuesday in Homs, central Syria, between the General Establishment of Syrian Networks for Electricity and Communications and the British company A. T. Y. for Technologies specialized in building power stations with high capacity.

This is to put down basics for the establishment of a plant to generate electricity in light of coordination and agreement between the ministry of electricity on all technical, financial and contract conditions, an engineer at the ministry told SANA.

The memo of understanding calls to build a power plant on a build-operate-transfer basis, when the company will own and operate the plant for a period after, which it returns it to the government.
