Nasrallah calls for good Syrian-Lebanese relations and national unity
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 1/19/2006
Secretary General of Lebanese Hizbullah Party, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, stressed that Lebanese national interest necessitates ending any possible hostility between the two Syrian and Lebanese government and people.
The recent demonstration was an expression of gratitude to what has been offered by Syria to Lebanon, Nasrallah said in a statement to the London-based al-Hayat newspaper Wednesday.
"All the Syrians and Lebanese demand revealing the truth and investigation into the assassination of former Lebanese Premier Rafiq al-Hariri. They want national unity, civil peace, building the state and al-Taif Accord, while there are persons who build a wall of hatred between the two inseparable people Equality and justice stipulate that nobody should be sentenced before being evidence if provided," Nasrallah added.
Nasrallah pointed out to "the latest severe wave of political, media and psychological instigation which target Syria's government and people," describing this campaign as having racial nature in some mass media and speeches.
He ruled out a new civil war in Lebanon, saying that the situations in the country witness sharp tensions "but I also imagine that there is a sort of wisdom reason that keep us away from such situation. Hizbullah party is a main force in Lebanon and has many points of view. The party is sincere to its country, people and to the Lebanese national interests."
