Unidentified group claims explosives against Lebanese army
Lebanon-Palestine, Politics, 1/18/2006
An unidentified group calling itself "The Armed Palestinian Group" claimed responsibility for the two attacks which took place on Saturday and Sunday near a Palestinian camp south Lebanon, but no casualties were reported.
A statement by the group has strongly criticized those who renewed the call for dismantling the weapons of the Palestinians outside Palestinian camps in Lebanon, following two Lebanese police men being injured on January 9th in al-Naema south of Beirut by members of the People Front For The Liberation Of Palestine -- General Command .
The police said that small bombs were thrown on Saturday and Sunday near two positions for the Lebanese army in the east and south of Ein al-Helwerh camp for the Palestinian refugees near Sidon, the main city in south Lebanon, and resulted in slight material losses.
The statement read that the two bombs were just "to remind and warn that the fake tears shed by some after al-Naema incident and the dramatic statements launched will not protect any of those who aim to dismantle the Palestinian weapons and the weapons of resistance in Lebanon."
This development comes in the course of the controversy there over calls and efforts to dismantle the weapons of the Palestinian resistance and Hizbullah party in implementation of the requirements of UN resolution 1559 issued by the UN security council in September 2004.
The statement added "let us all know that the Palestinian weapon was and will continue to be in the service of resistance and will be always stand in the face of the enemies of Islam, enemies of Arabism, and enemies of the resistance in Lebanon and every where until all American Zionist schemes in the region are foiled."
Worthy mentioning that the Lebanese army is deployed in the surrounding of the 12 Palestinian camps in Lebanon but does the army does enter these camps.
