al-Thawra: First Syrian car next June

Primary expectations indicate that the first Syria-made car will be launched next June, a newspaper quoted informed manufacturing sources.

In a statement to al-Thawra daily published Monday, Member of the Syrian-Iranian Company Board for Cars, Ziyad Qatini, said the one-model car will appear during the first year of manufacturing with 1300cc and 1600cc size engines, and with some internal options.

He added that the production will be 5000 cars annually, stressing that the quantity may be increased to 15,000 cars annually according to the market demand.

The expected price will be more than half million Syrian Pounds.
