Lebanese personalities stress Lebanese resistance and relations with Syria
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 1/16/2006

Lebanese former premier Salim al-Hoss criticized Sunday some Lebanese voices that described the Lebanese resistance as "weapons of treachery" and acquitted the Israeli enemy from the crime that claimed the life of Rafiq al-Hariri.

"It is really painful to hear someone describing the resistance as treacherous as if there has never been an occupied Lebanese land, almost daily air and naval aggressions by Israel and Lebanese captives in Israeli jails," Hoss said in a statement.

He added that "some politicians dare to acquit Israel from the assassination that killed Hariri before ending the UN probe into the crime as if Lebanon's enemy has no interest in killing him (Hariri)," stressing that Israel is the only beneficiary from the assassination.

He called upon his countrymen to be wise and rational as well as go back to the pan-Arab and national conscience in order to give Lebanon a better future.

On the other hand, Lebanese ex-minister Abdulrahim Murad underlined the necessity of standing side by side with Syria under the current pressure she is exposed to.

In a statement delivered at a celebration organized by Lebanese student organizations in the Bekaa, Murad expressed total rejection to the US attempts to dominate Lebanon, noting that "media campaigns against Syria by some biased sides aim at stimulating sedition between the two brotherly countries Syria and Lebanon."

Meanwhile, Lebanese ex-parliamentarian Najah Wakim expressed in a statement total rejection to any foreign intervention in the Syrian and Lebanese internal affairs.

"Syria is a dear part of our great Arab region," Wakim said in a statement in a festival at the UNESCO headquarters in the Lebanese capital on occasion of the 6th anniversary of the organization's establishment.

Wakim added that what is going on in Lebanon goes along with the US-Israeli project targeting the region, underlining the necessity of supporting the Lebanese resistance to liberate occupied Shabaa Farms and defend Lebanon against Israeli condemned objectives.

Later, the Syrian National Social Party renewed total rejection to all kinds of foreign bids to dominate Lebanon.

"dialogue is the only solution for the saving Lebanon," Chairman of the Party's Media and Radio Department said in a statement, underling commitment to the pan-Arab and national firm principles.
