Talibani looks for unity Iraqi government within a month
Iraq, Politics, 1/13/2006
The current Iraqi Interim President Jalal al-Talibani expects the formation of a national unity government to see light within one month, stressing that all parties will be taking part in this government.
Talibani indicated that the formation of such a government is linked to the Shiite list which had won the elections according to the non-final results and therefore, according to the constitution, has the right to nominate the prime minister.
Talibani considers that the participation of opposing sides in the next government as necessary but under the condition "to be on the ground of a common program without the control or hegemony of any one side, and without toough conditions," noting that it was agreed with the opposing sides to accept any results to be announced by the UN experts currently auditing the results of the elections.
