al-Rai Al-Aam: Petroleum in Syria will not run out, minister says

Syrian oil output will not run out and petroleum wells are continuing production till year 2025 with a capacity of 300,000 bpd in case no new wells are found, Syrian Petroleum Minister Ibrahim Haddad said.
"We are working to develop the existing wells and offer new drilling regions to foreign companies to explore oil as well as we had signed a number of contracts with international oil companies to do so," Haddad added in an interview with Kuwaiti al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper published Thursday.
He expected that there will be positives outcomes from new explorations in Syria during the coming years, referring to a contract with a Norwegian company to make studies and surveys for oil in the Syrian regional waters.
Haddad also noted two agreements on establishing two new refineries, the first in Deir Ezzor area in north Syria and the second is in the center of Syria with a capacity of 220 thousands bpd.
