French pressure on Syria regarding Lebanon

In the framework of continued French pressure against Syria, the French President Jacques Chirac said that the "time of interference and escaping punishment in Lebanon can no longer be accepted."
Chirac continued to say before members of the diplomatic crops in his country that the UN resolutions should be implemented in full and to be honored, stressing that Syria is expected to fully cooperate with the UN investigation committee.
Chirac added that he expects Syria's complete honoring of the Lebanese sovereignty, linking Syria's return to the international community to decisions and measures it should take concerning its crisis with Lebanon.
Chirac renewed support to Lebanon concerning internal reforms, necessary for the establishment of "a democratic and independent sovereign state."
