Syria's National Progressive Front discuss current political situations
Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 1/9/2006

Syria's Secretary Generals of the National Progressive Front ( NPF) discussed in its regular meeting on Sunday the political situations in the region and "the fierce campaign directed against Syria's national and pan-Arab stances."

The Secretary Generals spoke in a meeting headed by Suleiman Qaddah, Deputy Head of the NPF "that traitors in Syria and Lebanon have moved under these critical conditions, joined by Abdul Halim Khaddam who lost his mind after he had been politically marginalized and prevented from further intervening in the Lebanese file since 1998 because of the violations he committed there."

They pointed out that "Khaddam's wrong doings in Lebanon had disclosed his corrupt, overbearing and hostile character. His latest stances represent high treason and a disclosure of the position he managed to conceal in the past, making himself a mere tool in a project against Syria and our Arab Nation."

They added that "Khaddam went ahead in coordination with the enemies of Syria and released contradicting statements, forgetting that he himself accused Israel in an official statement of assassinating Rafiq al-Hariri and then contradicted his own statement in a bid to cover up the Israeli crime and cast doubts and shadow on Syria and its leadership."

The NPF Secretary Generals pointed out that "Khaddam put himself at the disposal of the American-Zionist plot of which he became a part and parcel in support of ( Detlev ) Mehlis politicized report, a document condemned by the national and pan-Arab forces as well as by Arab and foreign legal circles."

The secretary generals "condemn Khaddam's high treason," describing it "as part of an overall plot to put more pressures on Syria to coerce it into stances that contradict its national and pan-Arab principles."

They also called for "further enhancement of the national unity and closing of the ranks in facing existing conspiracies against our Nation," urging for "giving higher priority to meeting the interests of our masses in various fields of life and to the deepening of proper democratic approach in the Syrian political life."
