Armed group kills four in Algeria
Algeria, Local, 1/9/2006
Members affiliate to an armed group killed four workers in the Algerian public company for water, in Tismislit area, 300 km to the southern west of the Algerian capital.
The Algerian public radio quoted a statement by a general company for water that the four workers were killed on Saturday while they were back from a mission in the area.
Seven persons were killed in various acts of violence in Algeria since the beginning of January. This is, however, despite the relative recession in the acts of violence attributed to the armed Islamic groups in the country since 2003.
This incident comes three months after the ratification of most of the Algerians of a Presidential initiative for national reconciliation to close the file of the cycle of violence which has been hitting the country since 1992.
The "Salafeyah Group For Call And Fighting, suspected to have links to al-Qaida organization, rejected this initiative and announced it would continue armed operations.
