Festival of spring child theater opens in Damascus

Syria's Minister of Culture Mahmoud al-Sayyed called on Syrian writers and playwrights who direct writing to children to provide the ministry with their theatre productions as part of working together to enhance child theater as a means of education and encouraging high values and principles.
In a speech distributed at a festival held at al-Hamra National Theater downtown Damascus marking the opening of the Spring Child Theater Saturday evening, Sayyed said his ministry last year sponsored plays designed for children free of charge in several provinces across the country.
