Khaddam calls on al-Assad to resign

The former Syrian vice president Abdul Halim Khaddam said that President Bashar al-Assad should resign. This statement by Khaddam comes few days after he had accused the Syrian president of having threatened the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri.
Khaddam said in a statement with the French Channel 3 from his residence in Paris that al-Assad should to "leave" and that the most important is thing "to rescue Syria from that regime."
Khaddam added that those who stand behind the recent acts of assassination in Lebanon "will continue killing because their objective is to spread chaos in that country," saying that his life has become in danger but he is not frightened.
