Sharaa holds talks with Iranian deputy foreign minister
Syria-Iran, Politics, 1/6/2006

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on Thursday conferred with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Reza Bagheri on the latest regional and international developments and threats which face Syria and Iran.

"We conveyed a message to President Bashar al-Assad sent from his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad dealing with bilateral relations and issues that concern Syria and Iran as well as issues that require consultations," Bagheri said in a statement following the meeting.

He added that the two countries are permanently communicating to discuss bilateral and international issues, stressing that Iran will remain standing by Syria.

Syria was briefed on developments in Iran's position regarding the nuclear issue, Iran said.

We found that it is very necessary to inform the Syrian officials with any development, particularity Syria is a friend to Iran and a member at IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
