50 Iraqis killed in various attacks

Some 56 Iraqis were killed on Wednesday in various attacks in various cities most of them are victims of a suicide bombing in al-Miqdadeyah town in Baqouba northern east of the capital Baghdad.

Some 36 persons were killed and other 48 injured when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt detonated himself during a funeral for one official for a relative in the Shiite Dawa (call) party in al-Miqdadeyah town, 45 km to the east of Baqouba.

Iraqi security sources said that the participants in the eulogy hid from the fire of machine guns and mortars shelling which fell on the cemetery before one attacker wearing an explosive vest exploded himself amid the group.

In Doura, south Iraq, 8 Iraqis were killed and other 12 were injured in a booby trapped explosion targeting a crowded market in one of the city's targeted quarters against the police Maghawir.

In other attacks, some 12 Iraqis were killed, including one director at the ministry, and scores were injured.

A booby trapped car went off near a headquarters for the police in al-Kazemeyah Shiite area north of Baghdad, and this resulted in killing five persons and injuring 13 among the police and civilians.

In another development, the Islamic Army Group in a statement on the Internet claimed responsibility for the attack against a convoy of 60 vehicles the police said resulted in destroying 19 of them.
