Syrian cabinet condemns Khaddam's statements

Syria's Council of Ministers denounced on Tuesday statements of former vice president Abdul Halim Khaddam. They said Khaddam he has betrayed his country and its values.
At the weekly cabinet meeting, Premier Naji Ottri asserted that "Khaddam has accepted to be a servant to foreign forces trying to get at Syria's stances and her national and pan-Arab positions." The council said that Khaddam was a against the process of reform and democracy, and that he resorted in statements to lying and distorting facts, while talking about some foreign and internal issues and subjects.
The ministers also accused Khaddam of opportunism in his past behavior, emphasizing that "his resume was full of corruption, exploitation of the post, as well as using the official influence for his personal interests."
