Libya-Regional, Politics, 1/2/2006
Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi said that "Syria preserved security in Lebanon and ended the civil war there."
Qathafi was quoted as saying in a televised interview broadcast yesterday by al-Jazeera satellite TV, that Syria played her role in Lebanon and prevented the renewal of hostilities, pointing out that currently, the security is collapsing in Lebanon and there is a crack in the Lebanese national front."
Regarding the pressure on Syria, Qathafi attributed these pressures to Syria's rejection to demands of external powers.
He wondered "what have Syria done wrong? pointing out that a Syrian land that is under occupation, and Syria has the right to seek the liberation of the Golan, and should be thanked for what she has done."
