Al-Arabia: Lebanese accusation to Khaddam of mistakes
Syria-Lebanon, Politics, 1/2/2006
Lebanese MP Marwan Fares indicated that "Abdul Halim Khaddam's recent statements have pushed him out of the Arab history."
In an interview broadcast yesterday by al-Arabia satellite TV, Fares added that Khaddam had not taken the reaction of the Syrian peoples into account, saying that "the Arab logic cannot accept such behavior."
He indicated that "Khaddam is responsible for the mistakes which were committed in Lebanon and were underlined by President Bashar al-Assad at the latest Expatriates Conference."
Regional Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party in Lebanon, Assem Qansaw, described Abdul Halim Khaddam's statements during an interview with al-Arabiya satellite TV as part of a "systematic propaganda campaign against Syria, the castle of steadfastness and its leader President Bashar al-Assad."
Qansaw said in statement on Saturday that "Khaddam has become king of the false witnesses who serve Syria's enemies and its national and pan-Arab stances."
He added that "Khaddam and other like him who sold off their consciences for a handful of dollars and marble palaces in Paris and world capitals should know that Syria will foil all their conspiracies, and that President Bashar al-Assad follow the course of late President Hafez al-Assad in defense of the Arab nation and land."
Qasaw called for "investigations into the corruption perpetrated by Khadam and his sons in Syria and Lebanon."
