US opposes reconsidering Iraqi elections
Iraq-USA, Politics, 12/30/2005
The American administration has rejected the idea of reconsidering the Iraqi legislative elections and said that the elections were fair.
The UN shared Washington's view. Its representative at the Independent Higher Commission For The Elections, Greg Genies, said that the UN "finds no justification for demanding new elections," noting that the UN organization considers the Iraqi elections as having been "transparent and credible."
These reactions came after The Commission Of The Iraqi Elections said it will disclose soon a decision to cancel certain results of some ballot boxes in several circles in each of Baghdad, Rasafahgm, Baghdad- al-Karkh, Irbil, Ninwa, Karkouk, and Deyali. It also said that the investigations are underway to know the fate of the elections in the governorates of Basra and Babel.
