Forces break into religious figure's house, confrontations in Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 12/28/2005

The pace of attacks and acts of violence increased in Iraq. These resulted in killing 11 Iraqis including two army colonels, one is in the army and the other is in the police, in addition to kidnapping 8 persons including one female doctor working in Tikrit hospital.

The Iraqi police announced it detained with the help of the American forces two members of al-Sunni supporters and inspection and breaking in operations took place near al-Thalabieh village south of Karkouk after intelligence information were received.

On the other hand, one of the Shiite leader in al-Najaf, south of Iraq, Ayatullah al-Ozma al-Sayed Ahmad al-Hisni, said that the Iraqi police broke into his house and inspected it. He attributed that to his stances which reject the political proces in Iraq and the existence of the occupation forces in Iraq, as he alleged.

He, on the other hand, accused the American forces of ordering the Iraqi national guards to inspect his house and office, regretting the way the Iraqi forces broke into the house of a senior Shiite clergy of a clear political and religious rank among his followers.

Al-Hisni added that what had happened on late Monday evening was but a provocative introduction for detaining him. Replying to a question on what might happen if he is detained, al-Hisni said that "men are but locked boxes," noting that hundreds of thousands of young men in Najaf and Sader city in Baghdad will not keep silence over that.

Al-Hisni said "we do not fear the occupation, nor the authority which has come on board of the American tanks and fortified in the Green Zone. We are with the honest resistance until the evacuation of the last American soldier from Iraq," stressing he issued a Fatwa to the need of fighting against the American forces, and he explained that several quality operations against the occupation forces were carried out in the center and south of Iraq.
