Syrian detained over Tueini murder

In a notable development, the Lebanese authorities detained a Syrian citizen it said he is suspected to be involved in the assassination of the Lebanese parliamentarian who opposes Syria Gebran Tueni on December 12.
The Judicial sources said that the Lebanese security detained Abdul Qader Abdul Qader last week as one of three Syrians who were selling "Scrubs" at the site of the car explosion which killed Tueni.
The first military investigator Rashid Muzhir ordered the detention of the Syrian citizen after interrogating him. Information indicated that he was in al-Mukallas area where the assassination took place and that he had made calls via mobile telephone before the explosion took place. The Lebanese sources confirmed that Abdul Qader rented land close to the site of the attack at the eastern entrance of Beirut.
