Tension between Hizbullah and Junblat
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 12/27/2005
The Lebanese Hizbullah party refused to comment on statements by the Druze leader walid Junblat in which he demanded Hizbullah prove its allegiance to Lebanon.
Al-Jazeera satellite TV indicated that Hizbullah party is still cling to its conditions in order to return back to the government represented in the recognition that Hizbullah is not a militia and the UN resolution is not applicable to it in this regard, and also the recognition of its right to resistance on the Lebanese lands, while Junblat in turn demands the demarcation of borders with Syria and admitting the Lebanese identity for the Shabaa Farms.
Tension overwhelmed the relation between the two sides following the criticism made by Junblat to Hizbullah in calling on it to first prove its commitment to Lebanon ahead of loyalty to Syria, according to al-Jazeera.
This came in reaction to statements made two days ago by the secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party Sheikh Hassan Nasrullah to al-Manar TV in which he said "to the ones who want to take us to a war with Syria, we say that the first looser of this war is Lebanon."
