Junblat accuses Damascus of terrorism
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 12/23/2005

The Lebanese Druze leader Walid Junblat escalated his campaign started by his bloc and the Lebanese parliamentary majority on Thursday against the mission carried out by the secretary general of the Arab League Amr moussa since December 14, calling on him to go to Damascus instead of Lebanon, in order to stop what Junblat called the political killing practiced by Syria in Lebanon.

Junblat, whose bloc presides over the Democratic Meeting, said in a telephone call with a Lebanese tv station that the "Syrian regime of has nothing to do with Arabism, and are practicing terrorism, and has in its drawers terrorist organizations to scare the Arab regimes by it."

Junblat considered that the basic objective of the assassinations is to obstruct the UN investigation, noting that the killing of Samir al-Qasir took place after the start of the UN investigation committee, and the explosions which followed this phase and the acts of assassinations attempts followed that.

Junblat's accusations came one day after statements made by one parliamentarian in his bloc Wael Abu Faour in which he said that Amr Moussa is not welcomed in Lebanon "if Moussa comes with the aim to make Syria not guilty in the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri."
