Syrian Peace Tree expected to enter guinness world records book

The Musical Charity Institute has sponsored the 'building' of Syria's Peace Tree on the occasion of Christmas in which about 700 Syrian families took part using millions of beads to give the tree its final shape.

Head of the board of the institute George Shahin said the 25-m-height tree with a 12.5 m width and a 2-m height star carries 300 gifts, and 1000 others will be distributed to the kids who pass in front of the tree for three days during the Christmas.

The tree is the first of its kind in the Arab states, and the second in the world in terms of height and width. It is expected to enter Guinness World Book of Records as it includes 12 million beads.

The tree is named "Tree of Peace" in Syria, is said to aim at further spreading values of charity and benevolence among all peoples of the world. The Institute established a number of charity projects like a collective wedding, al-Amal (Hope) Journey and a project of distributing school stationery in all the Syrian provinces.
