Iraqi elections official in Syria vows to make them a success
Syria-Iraq, Politics, 12/15/2005

Representative of the higher commission for the Iraqi elections in Syria pledged on Wednesday that voting operations would be made in a democratic and free way as well in an atmosphere of order and security.

" This is to underline Syria's keenness on boosting the political process currently taking place in Iraq and provide all what is needed to make it a success," Saad al-Sameraaei said in a meeting with Director of the international organizations at the Foreign Ministry Faisal Hamwi.

The two sides touched upon the executive procedures agreed upon according to the protocol inked between them in November 8th to facilitate the voting process for Iraqi citizens at ballot centers established in Syria.

The voting process was launched yesterday in Syria and other Arab and foreign countries to enable Iraqis taking part at the first parliamentary elections in their country after the invasion in 2003.
