Al-Walid Bin Talal: $40 million to teach Islam in America

The two American Harvard and George Town universities on Tuesday announced that the Saudi prince al-Walid Bin Talal detonated for each of them a sum of $ 20 million with the aim to expand the Islamic studies programs.
The Saudi businessman told the Washington Post that he founded the first two centers for the American studies in the Middle East in two universities in Beirut and Cairo and that the American studies programs in the Middle east "will contribute to explaining the American conditions to the Arab world" and that his presents to the American universities will be used in "teaching the Islamic world in the USA."
The sum offered to George Town university, which is considered the second largest donation in the history of George Town university, will be used to expand the activities of the university center for the Christian- Islamic understanding which was established since 12 years and the university will call the center "al-Walid Bin Talal center for Christian- Islamic understanding."
For its part, Harvard university announced the establishment of a new program for Islamic studies including several steps including the increase in the number of faculties concerned with these studies and directing additional support for the graduates besides providing digital copies of rare Islamic manuscripts in what is called "The Islamic heritage project."
