Syrian-Lebanese agriculture committee discusses cooperation in damascus

The Syrian-Lebanese Agriculture Committee discusses in Damascus on Monday agrarian cooperation and means of enhancing them as well as the studies and agreements signed between the two states in the field of agriculture and exchange of products.

The Committee, cochaired by Syria's Minister of Agriculture Adel Safar and his Lebanese counterpart Talal al-Sahili and Secretary General of the Syrian-Lebanese Supreme Council Nassri al-Khouri as well as members of the two delegations, assessed and reviewed various agrarian agreements to develop or merge them in one all-out agreement.

Both sides also discussed working out a joint plan to encourage fodder plantation and the possibility of setting up joint marketing companies and cooperation in the field of potato production seeds in Lebanon as agreed on before.

The committee also discussed issues related to the project of the buffer zone on the joint borders to keep animal resources from contracting diseases as well as the possibility of reaching an agreement on the regulations of importing animal medicines and vaccines by the Lebanese side, and participation in regional and international exhibitions for the interest of the two states and agriculture integration.
