Mehlis report to the UN two days before the end of his mission
Lebanon-Syria-UN, Politics, 12/10/2005

The spokesman for the UN said that Detlev Mehlis, the chairman of the UN investigation committee into the assassination of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri, will discuss on Tuesday with the UN Security Council his final report on the results concluded by his investigations over the assassination incident.

The spokesman explained that Mehlis will provide each and every member of the council a copy of the report on Monday in order to give them one day advance to study it, before submitting it officially to the council.

According to the same source, Mehlis is expected to convene a press conference following the presentation of the report before the Security Council. The source added that search is still continuous for a successor to Mehlis if the Security Council agrees on the Lebanese request to extend the mission of the UN committee into the al-Hariri probe for another 6 months.
