Egypt-Regional, Religion, 12/7/2005
The Shura Council on Tuesday received message from the Moroccan Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs nominating an Egyptian Copt, Nabil Luka Babawi, for the award of King Mohammed of Morocco in Islamic thought, an Egyptian government report noted.
"The prize is awarded annually to the best Islamic book. Babawi has been nominated for his book on the wives of Prophet Muhammad in which he defended the Prophet against accusations," the report said.
The report adds "In his book, Babawi clarified the real reasons behind each marriage of Prophet Muhammad. Babawi is an Egyptian businessman and an appointed Shura Council member."
Babawi obtained a P.h.D in Law and Islamic Sharia and has compiled a book in which he defended Islam against slur campaigns.
