Al-Assad presides over economic team meeting on currency stability

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad underlined on Tuesday importance of the Syrian pound exchange rate stability at normal levels since it poses as "a priority to the government work and the monetary authority that is mandated to take necessary procedures to fulfill that goal."
Meeting the economic team in the Syrian government, President al-Assad discussed "the continuity and deepening of the economic reform inclination." He emphasized in his talks "the need to cooperate with the local, Arab and international expertise in the reform process, and to deal in a qualified way with current updated issues, as well intermediate and long term economic programs."
Al-Assad underscored "the quick and effective dealing of the government as a harmonized team with all these developments." President al-Assad underlined the economic and monetary dialogue widening importance to include the economic activities in the private sector and the national, Arab and international expertise in the private sector.
He called the economic team "to accelerate issuing of legislation that would push the economic reform process forwards among which is the law of organizing the exchange profession, as well exports development board in addition to laws governing companies, the trade law and the competition law." He directed the economic team to modify some legislation such as the law of the Central Bank of Syria and to develop the structure and work rules of the monetary and lending, as well developing regulations and mechanism of the Commercial Bank of Syria work.
The economic team included the Premier, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affaires, Minister of Finance, Minister of Economy, Governor of the Central Bank of Syria and the Director General of the Commercial Bank of Syria.
