American kidnapped in Iraq, al-Qaida police academy attack

Attacks in Iraq claimed the life of scores of Iraqis, the most violent of which were two suicide attacks against the police academy east of Baghdad, and this resulted in killing 37 and injuring 72 of the academy's officers and students.
Al-Qaida organization in Iraq claimed in a statement on the Internet the attack against the academy.
One officer in the Iraqi police who was among the survivors said that the first explosion took place when students were on their way to the restaurants following the end of training and during the state of fear the second attacker detonated himself. Preliminary news said that two women carried out the attacks, but a later statement by the US army stressed that they were two men.
One American contractor was injured in the attack and the American forces were not inside the academy at the time of the explosion, according to the statement of the army.
In other field developments, the Iraqi police said that it found 20 bodies in two areas west of the country. The police also said that gunmen killed one guard working in the office of the Interim prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari while leaving his house in Khweiles north of Baghdad.
Also a statement by the American army said that the American and Iraqi forces killed four gunmen at least while preparing to launch missiles near al-Daloueeya, north Iraq.
On the other hand, the media official for the Kurdistani Islamic Federation said that the supporters of the Kurdistani Democratic Party which is led by Masoud al-Barazani attacked the headquarters of the Islamic Federation in Dahouk city and burnt one of them in the downtown of the city.
