Shaaban appeals to foreign countries to change Strategy towards Muslims
Syria-Regional, Politics, 12/6/2005

Syria's Minister of Expatriates Buthaina Shaaban on Monday appealed to western states to change strategy towards Muslim immigrants, stop issuing laws and put an end to some stances that increase discrimination and provocation against expatriates.

"Following 9/11 events, the (religious) misleading campaigns against Muslims and accusing them of terrorism make us recognize the dimension of the current challenge," Shaaban said in a speech at the Religion, Immigration and Globalization Conference being held in Rabat, Morocco. She added that Muslims who live in Europe and the US are facing social, political and cultural campaigns, a matter that pushes them to seclude themselves to their own religious minorities.
