Syrian efforts regarding UN Hariri investigation accuracy
Syria-Lebanon-UN, Politics, 12/3/2005

Syria has intensified its campaign spreading doubtsover the accuracy of the report of the UN investigation committee which referred to the involvement of senior Syrian officials in the murder of Lebaon's Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri.

Meantime, the defendants for the four Lebanese government security officers who are detained under the charge of involvement in the assassination asked for their release in light of the testimony of what is called the "masked witness" who had recanted what he earlier said.

These developments came several days before the session of interrogation held by the UN committee in Vienna with five Syrian officials, less than two weeks from the date of handing over Deltev Mehlis report to the UN on the development of the investigation into the murder of Hariri.
