Syria, Algeria cooperation to exploit traditional handicrafts

Syrian Minister of Tourism Sadallah Agha al-Qalaa signed with Algerian Minister of Small and Medium Establishments and Traditional Industries Musstafa Bin Badeh an agreement of cooperation in the field of traditional industries.

The agreement states for enhancing means of cooperation and exchange between the two states to develop traditional industries through training and rehabilitation.

It also calls for opening exhibitions in both states to introduce traditional industries of each party to the other as well as offering all facilities and advantages to make these exhibitions a success, in addition to the exchange of studies and documents on traditional industries.

The two ministers said in statements to reporters there is a need for using these traditional industries to pave the way for new innovative products to compete in international markets.

They also underscored the need for participation of craftsmen in foreign exhibitions and markets, calling for moving the traditional handicrafts from the state of inherited crafts to the level of established professions through special schools and institutions.
