Saddam objects the way he was brought to court
Iraq, Politics, 11/29/2005
The toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on Monday objected to the way in which he was brought to the court for trial.
He said this he was because he was forced to take the stais instead of elevator while he was handcuffed. The judge maintained the same calm voice tone he used to have during earlier verbal rows with Saddam in the first sessions of trial, and told Saddam he will ask the American security men to take this into consideration next time.
Saddam had an argument once again with the judge over his rights, and once again opposed the security measures imposed on him in which he was deprived of his papers and pen he had, including ability to defend himself before the court.
The other convicted man Barazan al-Tikrit, brother for the Iraqi toppled president told the judge that he has cancer and that the current President Jalal al-Talibani and the prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari agreed for him to receive trial outside prison he is held in. When the judge said he did not see any request to that effect, al-Takriti said that not letting him receive treatment is an indirect way of killing him, saying "this is indirect execution."
